How will I spin all this straw into gold??
CSA Haul, Wed. 10/23/13:
Vine tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, eggplant, turnips, "spicy mix," beets, arugula, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, spinach, lettuces and carrots.
With the help of my Rumpelstiltskin, of course!
Rumpelstiltskin.
How are you guys managing the plentiful produce that the height of the season provides?
If you don't have enough bounty to complain about, get thee to a Farmers Market before it's all over! Just put your zip code into the search box and check "Farmers' Markets." BTW, it seems folks find it difficult to agree on Farmer's vs. Farmers' vs. Farmers Market, though each manifestation has fans. Most commonly it's Farmers Market or Farmers' Market, if anyone cares.
I would love to hear what you guys are making, since I can't share what I'm making! How are you spinning *your* straw into gold??
Ha! I love the allusion. Can't believe yr CSA is still going strong? Does it last as long as the farmer's market? I bought some fennel and apples at the market today, I'll be roasting the fennel for a salad from Isa's new book!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I really needed Rumpelstiltskin's help last night! My CSA goes until about mid-November (which is typical, some go to the end of November!). The Farmers Market here stops at the end of October, but a lot of the vendors said they would go to the end of November, too, (there must be an issue with using that space in the middle of town through the beginning of the holiday season?). Alas, no fennel for me in the box, which is unfortunate, since I love fennel!
DeleteI made this recipe over the weekend-i used earth balance and made a romesco sauce instead of the cheesey one- it was a spectacular cauliflower dish, and stupid easy too:

Sounds good!
DeleteWow! Our markets are long gone. We've already had snow up here! Michigan is having a bounty of apples, though, so I plan to make gallons of apple butter and apple sauce.
